2010 Holiday Gift Guide

Who loves GIVING gifts. Me Me Me! I DO! Really I DO. Nothing better than searching high and low for the PERFECT gift and then seeing the expression on that special someone’s face when they open it {or have them scream in your ear on the phone when it arrives on their doorstep, equally exhilarating ; ) } And okay it’s pretty cool to get gifts too isn’t it ; ) Not gonna lie!

Sooooooo I’ve put together a short list of some of my favorite things… Mostly Italian things {with one exception because quite honestly I cook almost all of my Italian food in THIS cooler than cool pan, therefore they simply couldn’t be left off my list}

Here are a few of my favorite things …

Why I LOVE these:

Creminelli Fine Meats EXCLUSIVE bell’alimento readers special Salumi Mix: Includes 1 each: Barolo, Wild Boar & WHITE TRUFFLE for just $37.00 + $9.95 s/h. Offer valid until December 15th or while supplies last. It’s a salami lovers DREAM gift and at a price you won’t beat. It’s handcrafted ARTISAN Authentic Italian Salumi {psst. It’s a fixed shipping rate too so if you order 1 or 10 sets and ship to same address it’s just ONE LOW PRICE ; ) }

Bialetti Moka Pot: Everyone who loves Italian espresso should own at least one {I own 3}. They come in a variety of sizes {1 cup, 3 cup, etc.} so there is one for everyone. If you want to up the ante put together a coffee lovers dream basket: add a bag of ILLY coffe beans, a set up espresso cups & demitasse spoons! Perfect for the true caffeine lover on your list!

Silver Patterned Glasses :  I fell in LOVE with these patterned glasses when I saw them in my bon appetit magazine. They’re silk-screened shot glasses from Italy by Paola Navone and Egizia. They’d also be perfect as miniature vases. $20 each. 6 different patterns to choose from. I don’t know how I’d ever choose just one…sigh {NOTE: they don’t have these on their site YET so if you’d like to purchase them call 323-653-8278}

La Cucina Italiana magazine Subscription : My mother has had this subscription for as long as I can remember. And I have been “borrowing” her copies for as long as I can remember LOL. The magazine {which really is a culinary work of art} is mesmerizing! The photography stunning and well the recipes as you would imagine scrumptious. Every time I pick up a copy of this magazine not only do I want to cook everything inside, I want to jump on a plane and go visit all of the places behind the recipes.

Nudo Olive Tree Adoption : This is one of the most unique gifts evah! You purchase a one year adoption to an olive tree located in Italy. You choose which of their groves your tree comes from and you will REAP the olive oil LOVE from your tree for that year. I mean how cool is THAT? A very unique opportunity indeed. Go  ahead, so off to your friends and family get them an olive tree ; ) Maybe they’ll even share the olive oil with you!

La Cucina Regional Cookbook : This cookbook has 2000+ recipes so it could keep you cooking for YEARS. That’s right years. Sadly no pictures, but I’ll let it slide with this one. It’s like your Italian Grandmother {nonna} sat down and wrote out all of her recipes and told you where they came from. The regional breakdown of recipes is a HUGE draw for me. This is on my list this year {ehem honey are you reading}

Panettone : Quite simply it is my favorite Italian Christmas cake period. It is a given that I will have at least ONE, okay TWO. There is nothing like it slightly warmed with a cup of espresso. Great hostess gift AND it also makes a mean french toast and bread pudding! We all love a multi tasker!

Nutella : I could go on for DAYS about Nutella. I will only say that I am a Nutella-holic {quite possibly the biggest Nutella-holic on the planet} and believe that Nutella should be shared and shared often. I’m a giver. What can I say ; )

GS Gelato : I tasted GS Gelato earlier this year and haven’t stopped thinking about their gelato since. It’s the best gelato I have had outside of Italy {yes I’ve tried those two other bigger brands in the market and they’re not even close} The also carry sorbets and Their Blood Orange Sorbet is just out of this world. But seriously you can’t go wrong with anything you choose {psst. they even have NUTELLA gelato} Doesn’t matter what the temperature is outside. It’s always gelato time!

Moleskine Recipe Journal : Quite possibly the most iconic journal known to man. Made famous by Hemingway but adored and loved by gazillions. I LOVE their Passions Recipe Journal. It’s a cooks/chefs dream journal. They’ve thought of everything for this one. Can’t go wrong with a Moleskine!

ManPans Cookware : If you follow me on Twitter {and you should I’m a hoot LOL} you have probably heard me RAVING about these pans. I REALLY can’t say enough about them. Since my 6 quart ManPan arrived on my door my other pans have become dusty and jealous. These pans are light weight, heat up in a instant and cook like a dream! I can’t wait to add to my collection! Man Pans ROCK!

There you have it! My 2010 Holiday Gift Guide! I hope a few of these will find their way onto your lists!

Baci e Buone Feste!
