Sorbetto di Uva {Grape Sorbet}

If you want a super simple and scrumptious summer treat then sorbets are your answer {wow that’s a mouthful ; ) }. You can make a sorbet from just about any fruit or combination of fruits. We recently shared a POMEGRANATE SORBET and a CHERRY SORBET. And we can’t forget about theΒ  WATERMELON & LIME SORBET that made it’s debut last summer. Now we have a robust red grape sorbet to tempt your taste buds.

We just happened to have a large bag of red grapes in our refrigerator. Somehow {insert bambino 1, bambino 2 or bambino 3 here} the bag of beautiful grapes managed to make their way to back of the fridge and had been hiding for a few days. After quickly plucking the grapes off the stems we whirled them with an immersion blender and we were on our way to a refreshing treat. The grapes were incredibly juicy and sweet and didn’t need much sugar at all.

If your grapes are as sweet feel free to add a touch more sugar. Additionally, if you don’t have an ice cream maker then you can easily place your sorbet mixture in the freezer and stir it every so often until it’s to your desired consistency. Easy peasy.

What you’ll need:
2 pounds red grapes – stems removed
1/2 cup sugar

What to do:
1. Into your blender {stick blender} or food processor, place grapes and sugar. Pulse to combine. Transfer mixture to a sieve pushing down to squeeze out as much juice as possible into a bowl. Discard grape skins.

2. Transfer mixture to refrigerator until it’s completely chilled.

3. Transfer mixture to ice cream maker and follow your machine’s directions until mixture is to desired consistency.

4. Garnish with fresh mint if desired. Store any uneaten sorbet in freezer.
