Sorbetto di Melone {Cantaloupe Sorbet}

Dessert  in the summer time should be quick and refreshing. Nothing complicated {we don’t need another excuse to heat up our kitchen do we ; ) }. With so many fresh fruits in season the possibilities for ideas are endless. For me, Sorbets are my go to summer time dessert. It’s obvious how much I adore them  {you’ve seen our GRAPE, POMEGRANATE, CHERRY, and WATERMELON} Sorbets use just a handful of ingredients and take minutes to prepare. You could even have the machine running while you’re eating dinner and it will be ready by the time you are! Easy peasy.

Today I’m thrilled to be hosting a virtual dinner and dessert party with a few of my very talented friends: CARRIE, SHARI & SUSAN!  If you’re not familiar with these super cool and uber talented girls you should be. Their baking creations always AMAZE me!

We’re keeping things stress-free by pairing simple and seasonal desserts with BERTOLLI meals for dinner. Did you know that Bertolli has 24 meals to choose from? So narrowing it down was no easy task. Ultimately I chose the CHICKEN ALLA VODKA with FARFALLE. It’s full of asparagus, tomatoes, chicken breast and sauce {you know how much I lurve sauce} and takes just 10 minutes to prepare!

While in ROMA with the loverly Bertolli gang {hi guys miss ya ; ) } I got to see first hand how their Executive Chef Michael chooses the freshest quality ingredients when creating their dinners. Everything from juicy ripe tomatoes, to fresh basil, to yes Parmigiano cheese! Very impressive.  Just like he did for the BRAND NEW SUPER TOP SECRET PRODUCT that we’ll be revealing in just a few short weeks! You’ll have to stay tuned to find out what it is, but I can tell you it’s unlike anything else on the market ; ) I know, such a tease tee hee!

Produce from Campo dei Fiori

To go with my easy peasy dinner I chose to make something equally easy peasy. Remember STRESS-FREE.  My neighbors had just brought over three of the most beautifully ripe cantaloupe. You could smell them immediately. They were sweet, juicy and perfect for a sorbet. 1 cantaloupe provided dessert for our entire family {you know we have a team of 5 right ; ) } It was so sweet it just needed a touch of sugar to add to it. If your cantaloupe isn’t as sweet you might need to add a bit more sugar.

The girls have come up with equally delicious dessert ideas which they paired with their Bertolli meals. Be sure to pop on over and check them out they did an awesome job!

CARRIE made LIMONCELLO ZABAGLIONE to go with Grilled Chicken & Roasted Vegetables!

SHARI made HONEY CINNAMON PEACHES & CREAM to go with Chicken Marsala & Roasted Red Skined Potatoes!

SUSAN made LIMONCELLO GINGERED PEAR SORBETTO to go with Chiken Florentine & Farfalle

Disclaimer: Bertolli was kind enough to provide us with coupons to choose the meals of our choice. However, my opinions are my own. Always have been, always will be.

    After a recent trip to Italy I can’t help but associate it with heady cantaloupe flavors. I especially fell in love with meloncello. Anyway, this sorbet is really doing it for me and I can only imagine how sunny and fragrant it tastes.
