Spicy Rosemary Spaghetti

I’m not sure about you but in my little 2 stoplight town there aren’t many shopping options. Sad but true. Now before you say “bless her heart” we do have a grocery store, it’s just not the biggest in the world. Besides our one grocery store we do have a Dollar General. Which has recently gotten a Red Box and I for one could not be happier, but back to Dollah Dollah store as I affectionately call it. When I need something fast and easy I head there. It’s small and I know where everything is at. I can get in and out quickly. Besides being convenient, they carry A LOT of products. Variety is the spice of life after all.

If you haven’t been to Dollar General you’ll be genuinely surprised. At my store at least, they have dry pantry goods as well as refrigerated items like cream cheese, milk, ice cream, eggs, bacon (yes bacon) and more. You’ll find a lot of the brand names that you’re used to seeing at the bigger stores (but on the cheap).

Don’t believe me? I was challenged to create a meal using products that I could purchase exclusively at Dollar General. I am always up for a challenge and quite frankly I knew this would be a cinch. I headed over with my $20 gift card hot in my hands and walked the aisles. I decided on a spicy rosemary spaghetti that is bright and festive and comes together in 10 minutes flat!

So what exactly did I get? I purchased Barilla spaghetti, Hunts diced tomatoes, minced garlic, dried rosemary, red pepper flakes, olive oil and voila dinner is served. In under my budget as well. I should have grabbed a container of ice cream for dessert. Darn. Next time.
