Tis the season to get our nog on. Eggnog, Egg-nog or Egg Nog go with your preferred spelling. I find that people are firmly in the camp of love it or hate it. Not too many who fall in the meh, I can take it or leave it category. I like mine on the boozy side but that’s no surprise. If you want to add a little something something different to this recipe (say you prefer bourbon over dark rum) I wouldn’t hate you. In fact I’d probably ask you to bring me one over you know for comparison purposes. Our version of eggnog is a twist on the classic. Yes you can totally flavor your nog. Now you know. At first I considered chocolate BUT why go with chocolate when you can use Nutella. Besides it’s been much too long since we’ve shared a recipe using my beloved so this is my gift to my fellow Nutellaholics.
Eggnog is made using raw eggs. I heard that gasp. There are NO worries if you’re using Davidson’s Choice Eggs. Why? Because they’re pasteurized. “Davidson’s Safest Choice® Eggs are pasteurized in an all-natural, gentle water bath pasteurization process to eliminate the risk of Salmonella. The vast majority of eggs sold in grocery stores are NOT pasteurized. Safest Choice™ offers peace of mind when making recipes calling for raw or undercooked eggs, and removes the worry of cross contamination.
Do you love eggnog as much as we do? Davidson’s Safest Choice Eggs is celebrating DOZEN DAYS OF NOG on Facebook (or the book of faces as I refer to it). Pop on over from NOW through December 24th and we can talk baking, recipes, holiday prep, and more. Make this your one-stop-spot to connect with other foodies and share tips and advice about all this NOG.
You can also post your recipe directly on their FACEBOOK page any time and one participant’s recipe could be added to the SafeEggs.com Recipe Center. Recipes will be judged based on creativity and photography. Oh, and feel free to invite your friends! #SafeNog
