Chocolate Bourbon Pecan Cake. No matter what is going on, I think we can all agree on cake. Especially when it’s chocolate cake with pecans and drizzled with WHISKEY CARAMEL SAUCE. It’s a show stopper for sure. It’s big, bold, and beautiful (is that a soap opera? I don’t watch a lot of tv anymore but that sounds familiar). I’m always for cake. Always.
This one though, you won’t be needing a giant wedge. A little sliver of slice will suffice. It’s deeply decadent. It also let’s me feel like less of a piglet and that’s always a good thing. Not that I’m opposed to a giant slice of cake, when it’s on the lighter side, because y’all, I am an eater after all.
It’s why I workout. It’s the ONLY reason I work out. I’ve said it many times before and I’ll say it again. I workout so I can eat all the things. Again and again. It’s just maintaining.
There are no gains for me, or more like losses but I’m okay with that as long as I can eat cake and still fit in my pants. Or unbutton them so I can eat a smidge more at the time. Don’t act like you haven’t done that. It happens and I just want you to know it’s okay.

- 3/4 cup natural unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 3/4 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 1/2 sticks unsalted butter, room temperature
- 2 cups packed Dixie Crystals Light Brown Sugar
- 3 large eggs
- 1 1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 3/4 cup brewed coffee
- 2 tablespoons bourbon
- Whiskey Caramel Sauce
- 2 cups pecans
- 1 cup German Chocolate Frosting
- 2 cups Chocolate Butter Cream Frosting
