DIY Lavender Sugar Scrub.
Have I ever mentioned that I’m obsessed with scrubs? I am. Instead of buying them in stores or at the spa, I save a ton of money by making my own at home. Not only am I saving money I can control what goes into my scrubs. Winning. It’s going on your skin after all. I also like making small batches (2 small jars) at a time so that I can experiment with different combinations.
I’m guessing since a handful of our kitchen beauty products (both sugar and salt scrubs) are in the blog’s top 10 best read and loved posts ever that y’all dig them too. So we’ll keep on scrubbing until we can’t scrub no mo. Okay that was bad, I probably should’ve had more coffee today. Sorry.
This is obviously a SUGAR based scrub. Instead of my normal olive oil or grape seed oil, we went with coconut oil this time. If your coconut oil is on the solid side just pop it into the microwave for a minute to soften it up. It will make mixing much easier.
Scrub consistency and scent are all about your personal preference. If you like it on the coarse side, add more sugar. If you like it loosened up, add more coconut oil. It’s that easy. The amount of essential oils that you use are up to as well. Start out with just a few drops. Mix and smell. You might be satisfied with a lighter smell. If you’re like me and like all the smells I go a little more heavy handed on the oil.
Once you’re satisfied with your scrub, store it in an airtight container. I like to use weck jars. I keep one by my kitchen sink and the other by my tub/shower. You’ll be surprised how often you use these when they’re close by.
Just add about a tablespoon in your hands. Scrub and rinse. I find it works best on hands, elbows, knees and feet.
