I happen to love seafood. Did you know that wild-caught Alaska whitefish varieties, such as halibut, sablefish (black cod), sole, Alaska pollock and cod, are a delicious and easy way for the whole family to eat more seafood.
Are you familiar with Alaska seafood? Sometimes cold is really good thing. Alaska’s cold pristine waters produce the purest, high-quality seafood. Its wild fisheries contribute nearly 60% of all seafood harvested in the United States. Impressive isn’t it?
Fresh or Frozen?
Good question and you know how much we love options. Alaska whitefish varieties are sold BOTH fresh and frozen all year-round for a wide-range of seafood possibilities and healthful options.
I purchased my Alaska cod frozen. I knew I wanted something super simple that would compliment the fish filet and that everyone in the family could enjoy (even the pickiest of little eaters). Simple doesn’t have to mean bland. Not at all. We started out crisping a few slices of prosciutto. Then we seared the cod filet in the prosciutto drippings on both sides. The gorgeous cod was topped with our lemon butter and placed into the oven to finish flaking.

It can be on the table in about 30 minutes. Add a side of new potatoes and salad and you’ve got yourself a family friendly meal. I like to place mine into the skillet while the cod is finishing in the oven so they get that nice crisp skin to them.
