Sweet & Spicy Bacon Coated with Nutella
I covered bacon in Nutella. And guess what? It’s off the charts AMAZING. I know it might be a stretch for some, but if you take that leap of faith and try it, you just might find you like it. I’ll even go as far as say that you’ll LURVE it.
It starts with a sweet and spicy bacon. It’s the only way I eat bacon anymore, I love it.
I was at this quaint bed and breakfast and they served this thick baked bacon with a sweet heat and I was hooked. I modified it a bit to fit my level of sweet heat and changed up the heat portion. It’s the perfect balance of flavors. You have to start with a nice THICK sliced bacon. Then you’ll mix up your spice mixture, be careful not to touch your face or heaven forbid your eyes after this, trust me it’s brutal. You’re going to bake it for a bit, flip them and then sprinkle the mixture on and cook a wee bit longer.
How To Make Nutella Covered Bacon
I know at this point you’ll want to eat the bacon, so go ahead and make a few extra pieces for “research” purposes. Let them cool completely. A baking rack does a smashing job. Then comes the magic. The NUTELLA magic. Just pop it into the microwave for a few seconds to soften it. You’ll need a easy touch here. If you get carried away and heavy handed you’ll risk cracking the bacon {& hey worse case scenario you have smaller pieces to it} Now if you have a silicon brush that would be ideal, or even an icing spatula to spread the Nutella over the bacon.
You could at this point eat it, but it will be VERY messy, so just be patient a little longer. Pop them into the fridge or even freezer if you just can’t stand it until the Nutella hardens and creates a beautiful coating. And then the final touch a sprinkling of fleur de sel.
Oh my goodness, it’s a sweet, spicy and salty sinfully scrumptious SNACK!

I think I just need to try this to see what its like. Something tells me I may actually like it! What’s not to love? Bacon… chocolate? I’m dairy free and allergic to hazelnuts but I make a good alternative Nutella. I think my boyfriend would like these too! He eats Nutella like it’s going out of style. Great recipe!
Laura D says
You are seriously a genious. You’ve combined two of the most-loved foods. Last year, I made my special someone some candied bacon for Valentine’s Day brunch. I coated thick center-cut slices with agave nectar and wasabi paste and then baked them. But this looks like so much more fun!!
barbara halliwell says
What is fleur de sel? Where do I buy it? I’ve got to try this recipe.

HINT: Google “fleur de sel”!
