This Grilled Peach Ice Cream with Caramel Sauce post is sponsored by Dixie Crystals. Opinions are my own.
Did you know that I am indeed a Georgia peach? Yes I was born in Georgia. Naturally this means that I love peaches, otherwise they kick you out of the state (okay that is not true but it was fun to say). I also love (and probably overuse) the phrases “peachy keen”, “she’s a peach” and “peach out”.
They have nothing to do with this ice cream recipe they are simply further proof of my love of peaches. If you’re super excited to get directly to the recipe you can JUMP TO THE RECIPE NOW and skip over my waxing poetic about peaches.
My Mom would make the most amazing homemade peach ice cream every summer growing up. She’d break out the wooden barrel of an ice cream maker, load up the ice cream salt and we’d take turns
seeing how long we could last before our arm fell off turning the crank.
Our reward, if we could lift the spoon, was creamy rich ice cream that smelled and looked like peaches. Pure summer in a bowl. I decided to take that recipe and give it a twist. A grilled twist. Grilling the peaches brings out the natural sweetness and adds a little oomph to the ice cream.
Try to save a few extra slices to garnish your ice cream with. That is if you don’t eat them all before your ice cream is done churning, because now that we don’t have to turn a crank what else are we going to do while we wait on the ice cream?
