Homemade Hot Sauce www.bellalimento.com

Homemade hot sauce is a good thing. Whether you like yours mild, medium or wild you can make it so your personal heat level is a happy camper. If you’re thinking it’s difficult, you’d be wrong. Ours comes together lickety split. It’s base is made from our  OVEN ROASTED TOMATOES and home grown peppers.  The hardest part about this recipe will be deciding what you’d like to use it on first. Hot sauce is a multi purpose condiment. It’s great on sandwiches, meats, veggies, eggs, and just about anything else you can think of. We can’t think of much it’s not good on to be honest.

The heat comes from, you guessed it, the peppers. A jalapeno will give a more mild flavor while peppers like habanero and ghost fall into the if you can’t stand the heat get out of the kitchen category (which I’m not, I’m a heat wimp what can I say). Whatever you do, don’t touch/rub your eyes after you’ve handled peppers. It’s no bueno. Trust me. Okay to be on the safe side rubber gloves are a very good idea. You’re welcome.

Once you’ve blended the ingredients together, just pour your new favorite condiment into your preferred jars (mine happen to be from World Market – they also just so happen to make great gifts too) and store this Hot as YOU Like it Hot Sauce into the fridge. I think you’ll be surprised how often you’re grabbing this bottle to add a little zip to this that and the other.

Grab the recipe for our HOMEMADE HOT SAUCE on the Dixie Crystals website.

I LOVE this idea! We use so much hot sauce in our house…and truly, I think my teenage daughter is the one who goes through it the most! Pinning this now to make with her. That would be so much fun!

I think I’d be able to handle about a half jalapeno. I’m such a wuss when it comes to heat even though I love the flavor. The good news is that I can make this as hot (or not) as I want.

It has never entered my head to make my own hot sauce. Duh! And it’s not that hard. Another arrow in my cooking quiver. I always like archery. I took it as one of my ‘have to’ college PE glass and got a D. Good thing it was only a 1 credit class. First D and thankfully last D I ever got in my life. Apparently merely liking Archery is not enough. Lol

Paula, you’re always coming up with something wonderful and fun. This sounds delish, I love that you can adjust the heat levels to your taste. I’m not as grown up as you are even if I’m 4x your age 🙂 Hope you’re doing well!!
