Whiskey Caramel AffogatoWhiskey Caramel Affogato.

I’ll just let that sink in for a minute. WHISKEY. CARAMEL. AFFOGATO. It’s a drink  that’s like a dessert all in one awesome glass. You’ll need a straw and a spoon to have your bases covered, best to be prepared. I mean if you didn’t have a straw you could just tip the glass and drink it so no worries if you’re all out of straws when it comes time. I mean we gotta do what we gotta do. Affogato in Italian means drowned. You will be drowning alright, in deliciousness that is.

Whiskey Caramel Affogato

A traditional affogato is made using vanilla ice cream and a shot of HOT espresso. It’s amazing no doubt but (there’s also a but yeah) there’s always room for a little twist and turn to recipes right? Our twist and drizzle if you will comes in the form of our Homemade Whiskey Caramel Sauce that will have you licking the spoon and possibly pouring it straight into your mouth it’s that good. I make a double batch when I make it because I literally put it on as many things as humanly possible. Dessert is the obvious choice (or a spoon, whatever, I know you will too). But most recently I put it onto big fluffy ricotta pancakes and then topped it with bananas. Holy cannoli, all the yeses. Add that to your list of things to do when you make it. Trust me.

Ready to make one or two for yourself? Yeah you are. Pop on over to Dixie Crystal’s website to get our WHISKEY CARAMEL AFFOGATO RECIPE.

Let us know what you think, or better yet, just invite me over and you can tell me while we’re enjoying one of these babies. Sounds like a plan to me.

Boozy desserts/drinks are a new favorite for my husband and I. We’ve been making Rumchata a lot, so I’ll have to tell him about this so we can mix it up!
