DIY Coconut Lime Salt Scrub

Salt Scrub Ingredients

I love making homemade scrubs all year long but it seems like I really get into them in the spring and summer. Something about showing a little extra skin and all and wanting to be prepared. Yes I like to be prepared. I was a girl scout after all. No one wants to have ashy, grey and dull looking skin right? We took a trip to OBX last month during bike week.

The ocean is one of my happy places. I gravitate to it. It’s so calm and peaceful which is the complete opposite of my life in general so maybe that’s why I’m all about the ocean. Deep and salty. Very salty. Which brings me back to this salt scrub.

Coconut Lime Salt Scrub

This DIY salt scrub is made using a few simple ingredients that you probably already have in your pantry. I can only tell you how it makes MY skin feel and that’s amazing. It sloughs off all of my dull looking skin and it comes out looking refreshed and ready to go. Not to mention I smell like a pina colada after using this which makes me love it even more.

What’s not to love about smelling like a pina colada. Well other than drinking one. Now I’m reminded of my trip to the KEYS.  If I close my eyes while I’m scrub a dub dubbing this it’s almost like I’m back there with my toes in the sand and a pina colada in my hand. Almost. Note to self, get back to to keys soon.

Coconut Lime Salt Scrub
I like my salt scrubs more on the DRY side but you might not. IF you like yours a little wetter than just add more coconut oil. It’s easy. If you happen to want more coconut or lime smell you can also add a few drops of natural oils. It’s your scrub, do what you like. You can package these up for gifts (hello teacher appreciation, Mother’s Day, etc era etc era)  or if you don’t feel like sharing (nothing wrong with that) just leave a jar by your sink or in your shower.

If you’re going to store it in the shower you MIGHT want to go with a plastic container. Glass and showers don’t really mix, yeah? Mine lasts for about a month when stored in an airtight container. The length of course will depend on how many times you use it.
