This post is intended for those 21+ years of age. Please enjoy responsibly. Gumby Slumber Cocktail.
Last week I was in the Florida Keys, if you follow me on Instagram and Twitter you would have seen some of the aca-awesomeness, and if you’re not, just why? Go ahead and fix that now, m’kay. I almost didn’t come home. Not even going to pretend that it was anything short of amazing.
The food, the people the WATER. It’s ridiculous. I honestly bought an artisan made necklace off a gallery owner’s neck because it reminded me of the water. I had to have it, and this cocktail that I discovered while there.
We were greeted at the dock of the luxurious and uber exclusive Little Palm Island Resort & Spa with a tray of these cocktails. It’s called the Gumby Slumber. “It was created and named long ago by one of the Island’s first bartenders. The name was a random thought as he was describing the effect of the drink – your body turns to a “gumby” state and you simply want to “slumber” in a hammock all afternoon. I can attest to that. I decided to shake it up (literally and figuratively) using Blue Chair Bay Coconut Spiced Rum and Blue Chair Bay White Rum.

Key West sounds like the perfect place to enjoy such a tropical drink. It wouldn’t work here (Maine) today as it is cool, gray and rainy! On the other hand it might brighten the day!
