Instant Pot Pumpkin Puree. 2 ingredients are all you need to make pumpkin puree at home.
Did you know that you can easily make your own pumpkin puree at home? You sure can. All you need are TWO (yes you read correctly) ingredients. A sugar pumpkin (otherwise known as a pie pumpkin) and water. That’s it.
We’re going to cook that baby pumpkin to perfection in our Instant Pot. The trick is to choose a sugar pumpkin that will fit inside YOUR Instant Pot with the lid secured. Yes, we all have different sized Instant Pots so make sure the pumpkin will fit in yours.
I happen to have an older model Instant Pot so mine is on the smaller size. TIP: you CAN chop the stem off the sugar pumpkin if you need a little extra wiggle room.
Once it’s cooked the pumpkin will be soft as butter. Once the pressure has naturally released and you carefully open the lid, you will be able to easily pierce the pumpkin skin with a fork. That’s how you’ll know it’s done.
You’ll be able to slice the pumpkin in half with no problem. Next is scooping. When you scoop out the seeds, don’t toss them. Save them. They make the best snacks. Check here for HOW TO ROAST PUMPKIN SEEDS.
A quick peel of the skin and then it’s into the blender and pulse until it’s perfectly smooth. That is all there is to it.
